About

In my zone, cooking...Who is Real Food Girl: Unmodified?

Hi, I’m Kristine!

I'm a blissfully married, classically French trained cook/chef turned pro organic, anti-GMO food hippie.  I live in Minnesota with my Italian husband, “The Stud Muffin” (TSM), our two dogs and 1 ninja spy kitty named Camilla Bean. I currently live in the Twin Cities, and was born and raised here.  I have lived in a few other states while following my husband during his Air Force career.  The summer of 2013 we're packing up our belongings and moving approximately 1200 miles away to the great state of South Carolina.

I went to Culinary School so that the skills and techniques I learned there would not only make me a better cook,  but would also assist me at being a first-rate Nutritionist and an expert in the field of eating and living organic and GMO-Free.

I knew when I graduated from Culinary School that I was not going to work in a restaurant. Currently I'm torn between my aspiration to be a health inspector (I was born with insane attention to detail skills so noticing mistakes, violations and errors comes naturally to me) and also wanting to become a Nutritionist. I have an energetic desire to share with everyone how to be healthier on purpose, yet still enjoy good food.

FOOD FOCUS

I'm infatuated with bacon, butter and cream and use whole fat ingredients in my cooking all the time. I focus on healthy fats like coconut oil, olive oil and organic butter. I work hard to use as many whole, Organic, unprocessed, or minimally processed foods as I can, and I encourage others to do the same.  I consider myself an active champion for Organic foods try to educate others about the evils of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).  I strive to cook S.O.L.E. food and invite others to do the same.  S.O.L.E. stands for Sustainable, Organic, Local and Ethically raised.

I enjoy giving private cooking lessons to adults and children.  I am convinced that once people have the basics down, they'll save time and money in the kitchen and will not only feel better because they're making food from scratch vs. a box, but they'll also bond as a family by sitting down at the table to share dinner and the events of the day.  Cooking is NOT hard and can be fun, simple and very rewarding.   It's also healthier to cook from scratch.  Once you learn a few simple techniques you will be cooking up a storm in your own kitchen! Trust me.
